Advanced Colour Correction Course
Taught by ESCAC within the OFF ESCAC program in collaboration with Outlabs Training
This course will help you better understand colour correction, integrating the artistic vision of the Director of Photography. You will master complex workflows, prepare your images for the highest delivery standards and develop a critical eye and a professional methodology that will differentiate you in today's film industry.

MODULE 1: Deep Image Perception and Control.
MODULE 2: Colour Management and Cinematographic Level Workflows.
MODULE 3: Artistic Grading and Advanced Refinement.
Objectives
Deep understanding of colour spaces (Rec.709, P3, ACES, Rec.2020), OETF and EOTF.
Waveform reading, Vectorscope, Parade and Histogram for technical and artistic analysis.
Methodologies for building custom cinematic "looks" (Colour Warper, Colour Slice, curves).
Creation of complex node trees (serial, parallel, layer, outside, Key Mixer).
Advanced techniques for skins and key elements (qualifiers, Power Windows, Magic Mask,...).
Grading settings HDR (HDR10, Dolby Vision, HLG) and conversion challenges HDR to SDR.
VoD and cinema platform requirements (cameras approved, delivery formats,...)
Evaluation
Attendance greater than 80%
Presentation of evaluable final project
Access Requirements
Over 16 years of age.
Be a community citizen (hold the nationality of any of the EU Member States) or be a non-EU citizen residing in Spanish territory.
Have knowledge of colour correction in DaVinci Resolve, and/or in other software, understand what colour management and ACES are. However, a recapitulation of important concepts and terms will be done at the beginning of the course.

To pass the course, the following two conditions must be met: attendance of more than 80% of the classes and a favorable evaluation of the final project.

PHOTOGRAPHY DIRECTOR AND DIGITAL IMAGE TECHNICIAN
He studied photography direction in 2000-2001 at Séptima Ars in Madrid.
He started working as an electrician, and then moved to the camera department, holding all the positions, and learning from the base in cinema and advertising.
In the last 12 years he has combined national and international series, both from DIT, as well as some of them as director of photography, specializing in productions shot in LED Volumes (Virtual Production)
