RAW File Workflows Course
Taught by ESCAC within the OFF ESCAC program in collaboration with Outlabs Training
In this course you will learn the entire workflow process from camera to display. The management, editing and export of images efficiently, taking full advantage of the capabilities offered by RAW files in image editing programs with specialized software. We will see the fundamentals of RAW and how to get the most out of correct capture for post-production.

Program
MODULE 1: Basics of RAW files and glossary of terms RAW files are raw image data captured directly from the sensor of a digital camera / Their main advantage is that they preserve all the information in the scene without applying destructive compression or colour or sharpness adjustments
MODULE 2: Capture and configuration of RAW files during filming Camera settings for recording in RAW / Impact of ISO, white balance and colour temperature / Monitoring during filming: LUTs and image measurement instruments
MODULE 3: Material processing and management RAW Backup and verification of checksums / Software for ingestion and daily viewing copies (Pomfort Silverstack, ShotPut Pro) / Conversion of RAW to other formats (ProRes, DNxHR)
MODULE 4: Colorimetry and post-production of RAW Colour management in DaVinci Resolve / Using ACES for RAW / Colour correction and plane matching with LUTs
MODULE 5: Case studies and workflows in real productions The Atomic Shelter (ARRIRAW + ACES) / Sky Rojo (RED R3D + workflow HDR) / The Night Manager 2 ( Sony RAW + ACES)
Objectives
Understand the advantages of working with RAW files over other image formats.
Learn to organize and classify RAW files effectively, using tools and techniques to improve productivity.
Master the use of specialized software for non-destructive editing of RAW images.
Evaluation
Attendance greater than 80%
Presentation of evaluable final project
Access Requirements
Over 16 years of age.
Be a community citizen (hold the nationality of any of the EU Member States) or be a non-EU citizen residing in Spanish territory.
This course is aimed at digital image technicians, editors, post-producers, directors of photography, filmmakers, camera assistants, and anyone interested in managing digital video or cinema files.

To pass the course, the following two conditions must be met: attendance of more than 80% of the classes and a favorable evaluation of the final project.

PHOTOGRAPHY DIRECTOR AND DIGITAL IMAGE TECHNICIAN
He studied photography direction in 2000-2001 at Séptima Ars in Madrid.
He started working as an electrician, and then moved to the camera department, holding all the positions, and learning from the base in cinema and advertising.
In the last 12 years he has combined national and international series, both from DIT, as well as some of them as director of photography, specializing in productions shot in LED Volumes (Virtual Production)
